Effects of Diminished Digestive Enzymes

May 18th, 2011

Due to the inevitable aging, the body continues to deteriorate. With this, some bodily functions such as the digestive process where digestive enzymes are produced to break down the foods we eat into something the body can absorb, also diminishes. That said, it is therefore important to be watchful with such biological changes. Since the digestive enzymes are proteins that act on the food we ingest, an insufficiency will lead to several symptoms, which may include heartburns, bloating, flatulence, constipation, fatigue, irritable bowel syndrome and lowered immune system. These days, there are readily available digestive enzymes sold in the market, most of which are derived from plants and animals sources.
